MAYFAIR, is among one of Denver’s favorite mature neighborhoods. Here, you will find a delightful blend of city meets suburb combined with a great sense of community. This charming, yet progressive urban neighborhood is located just three miles east of downtown. It offers eclectic architecture with housing predominantly from the 1940’s and 1950’s, Mayfair’s homes range in style from Tudor and neo-eclectic mansions to classic ranches, Denver Squares, bungalows, to high-rise apartment buildings, duplexes and condo communities. Mayfair borders Albion to the East and Monaco Pkwy to the West and 6th Avenue to the South to Colfax to the North.
Mature trees and wide streets give this urban community its suburban flare. Mayfair’s diverse community enjoys it’s two parks; Mayfair and Lindsey Parks. Characteristic of it’s history of fifty years, neighbors enjoy the shopping center located at 14th and Krameria. Mayfair provides its residents with close proximity to downtown, hospitals, and shopping along 8th avenue and Colo. Blvd., Colfax and Cherry Creek business districts.
In 1885, Baron Walter Von Richthofen proclaimed Mayfair “The Beautiful Suburban Town of Denver” and advertised the area as a healthy alternative to the moral dilemmas of city living. The area now known as Mayfair became part of Denver in 1902 but was not officially named until after World War II when returning GIs settled in the area. The area was attractive to these men and their families for many of the same reasons that Mayfair is so popular today.
